I am sorry I have been so neglectful of the blog. There always seems to be an excuse for not posting. A big part of the problem is that I have just not gotten out to take any photos recently. But there is nothing like a deadline and accountability to others to make yourself do something. So, as Tony explained on his blog, I proposed a weekly challenge that should hopefully get me off my butt. Each week, one of us will toss out a one-word theme, and we each have a week to post a photo on that theme. Tony picked the first week's theme, "monotony". I had a couple different ideas for this one, but they involved leaving the house (which would have been tough, since I have been grounded with the child while Julie travels) and/or photographing stangers, which I always feel weird about. While Julie has been gone I have had to take care of Wesley by myself. It's not so bad most of the time, but the 3am and 6am feedings are where it hurts the most. This photo is my attempt at capturing the "monotony" of taking care of Wesley through the middle of the night in his nursery. It is somewhat of a departure for me in that this is the first time I have posted something with photoshopped "fakery" - using the computer to not just enhance what was actually in front of the lens, but to depict something impossible (I am not one of a set of triplets). What do you think? See Tony's "monotony" posting here. |

Brian January 20, 2009 - 10:08pm Freakin' awesome post today. Amy January 20, 2009 - 2:54pm Amazing. Really amazing, love it. If only this one was up there before I'd chosen a manhole. JK. Tony January 20, 2009 - 1:05pm Nice job, Jeff. I really like it- I think these multiple images do a great job of showing the patience and attention that a newborn requires. I think it's interesting that you again seem to worry about the 'purity' of the blog. This isn't the first time you've sort of hemmed and hawed about what is okay to do- it's your forum! If it feels like the right way to post, then it's the right way. I think that this image does a wonderful job of expanding on the theme, and I think photoshop is a powerful tool to be used to its' fullest potential. Nice job man, can't wait to continue this weekly challenge. JimDrobish January 20, 2009 - 9:44am I love it! How did you do it? 3 separate shots stitched together??? Actually it doesn't seem like monotony, but frenzy (maybe titled: 3 demands/2 hands/1 father). Glad to see you're back on your blog (1 more demand)! Heather January 20, 2009 - 9:25am Speechless!!!!!! That is *really* cool, Jeff. | ||
