About this blog:

I am a novice at photography and started this blog in the summer of 2007 in order to share some of my work. I created this not only to share my work but also to get feedback as I attempt new things and try to improve. Also, for those who know me, checking in on the blog is not a bad way to get an idea of what I've been up to.

I love getting comments, especially criticism, which I use to try to improve. I hope when you visit you will take the time to drop a comment or two in here.

For technical details: Most photos posted here were shot with a Canon Rebel XTi. In post-processing I use Photoshop, Photomatix, and Canon's "Digital Photo Professional" software that came with my camera. I do a substantial amount of computerized editing of my photos, but I try to do so in a way that is true to the original or that is at least true to the emotion the photo is trying to evoke.

This website was coded myself using, primarily, Microsoft Notepad.

I've titled this site "Focusing" because (1) it is an obvious play on photography but also because (2) as an action verb, I feel like it conveys the sense that I am in the process sharpening and perfecting something. Since that is one purpose of the blog (to help me to develop and grow and refine my focus as an amateur photographer), I think it fits.

Like I said, I love getting feedback, whether it is about the photos you see here, the format of the site, or anything. Let me know what you think, and thanks for visiting.
