No. 137 January 1, 2008!

Happy New Year!

I've had quite a break so far. I drove to NYC from STL, then drove down to West Chester, PA (near Philly), then to Carrolltown, PA (near PGH), then down to Birmingham, AL for a wedding - and now I am back.

My PSU buddy JohnMac was the one getting married. I have to be honest, when I first started making plans for the holidays I was a little apprehensive about travelling all the way down to Alabama for a wedding - it's a lot of driving, for one thing, and it also has the effect of cutting my holiday short (to the extent that I have ended up back in Saint Louis earlier than I thought I would). However, after going through with it all, I am pretty damn happy. The wedding itself was some of the most fun I will probably have in a very, very long time; it would have been a bargain at twice the road miles ;-)

Also, I really like being back in STL with some time to myself. I am going to be doing a little surgery to the blog: there will be a thumbs page, a new title, and I think I will start trying to post it on blog portals to get some new traffic.

School doesn't start until the 14th. If I had nothing else going on between now and then I would stuff the time with photography shooting, editing, website stuff, and house projects. As it is, though, I have to finish editing a bunch of articles for the Law Review. Hopefully I can get that wrapped up soon so I can spend my time on fun things... At any rate, it's actually pretty fortunate that I have as much down time as I do in Saint Louis over this break.

If you want to see some more wedding pics, check this out.

You should start thinking about shooting weddings. Just put an add on Craig's List and be truthful... "new photographer," "minimal experience," "CHEAP!" "Can show portfolio" Start at $500 or so and show people the "portfolio(s?)" you have from friends weddings. You'll probably get a few gigs. If you can get 10 photos in 8 hours of this quality you've had a successful wedding and people will love you. The rest of the photos just need to be of the day and of the guests. They may not be exciting to you, but they'll be thrilling to the people who's wedding it is.
